Stars take on the Stags in this evening’s Charity Shield. Our new coach Guglielmo Arena will be looking to start his tenure with Etoile FC on a positive note.

Etoile FC had undergone a major overhaul despite winning the S.League and League Cup double last season. Top scorer Frederic Mendy joined Home United and the rest of those who left are seeking greener pastures in Asia and Europe.

Those remained includes defenders Andrea Damiani and Nordine Talhi, both of whom were limited to bit-part roles in the 2010 campaign.

I read that Daniel Nna could leave soon like Loic Leclercq.

Understand that new to the club are a bunch of players mostly from lower-tier clubs in France, including striker Jonathan Justin, who has been brought in to replace Mendy.

The lanky teenager, was signed from a French regional league with a record of eight goals in twelve matches for amateur side Auch Gascogne last season.

He is likely to be supported by Romain Zewe, top scorer for Kaerjeng 97 in the Luxembourg league, with Belgian reserve forward Kevin Lefranc.

Unfortunately, preparations for the Charity Shield have not gone too well. The team returned from a Bangkok tour that produced two losses in two games.

A good victory tonight will be expected of the defending champions though.

New Season Coming... Updates?

It has been quiet since the end of last season. There're no news of any developments of Etoile except the departure of top goal scorer Mendy to Home United. There're also no information of any sale of season passes for the fans. The start of the new season is less than a month away. In other leagues, clubs would be busy selling new merchandise and tickets but it is not the case here.

I hope to hear from the club soon.

I know this post is a bit late, but ETOILE FC IS S LEAGUE CHAMPIONS! DOUBLE WINNERS TOO! The club set the standard for others to follow. I hope it can build on it's success this year and give other clubs a tougher challenge next season. Though Mendy has left for Home United, I'm looking forward to the club bringing more exciting players. Perhaps Etoile can include some local players.

I am looking forward to what the club will offer next year. =)

It's been quite a while since I watched Etoile played. After the long YOG break, read that the team beat Woodlands 2 - 0 to briefly top the league. Tampines overtook the Stars following their impressive 5 - 2 win over Beijing Talents.

I'm looking forward to the Stars game this friday at JBS. Will most probably be watching on TV.

It's been a while since the last post. My attention was on the World Cup. I believe FAS knows attendance will be affected by the World Cup, but still continued with the league matches. I think there should be a break.

Other than the surprise loss to the Japanese side Albiirex, it has been business as usual for the Stars. Still in top spot, the S League title is getting closer and closer to Queenstown.

I wonder why the Stars are not asked to be one of the sides play against Burnley....I read that Burnley thrashed Gombak 5 - 0 at Tampines Stadium yesterday evening.

It can't be a better time for Etoile FC to meet Home United. The protectors are not playing to their potential recently and have lost to the likes of the Young Lions. Hope they'll get star struck tonight. Etoile with it recent good form, should win this one. My prediction: Etoile 2 Home United 0.

Hattrick of Wins over Rams!

Both Matthias Verschave and Kevin Yann scored to maintain Etoile's 100% record against Woodlands Wellington at Woodlands Stadium on Tuesday. The match ended 2 - 0.
The Stars had already beat the Rams in the League Cup final and an earlier league encounter. This victory made it a hattrick for Etoile!

I was overseas for the past 2 weeks and could not catch the Stars play but was happy that the team won Beijing Guoan and Sengkang Punggol 2- 0 and 1 - 0 respectively to keep pace with the Stags. With the Stags losing points, Stars are just 4 points behind. Would be looking forward to Stars games against Woodlands this week. Hope Etoile FC can beat Woodlands 4 - 0 again!

I watched Football Mundial on cable yesterday and it featured Etoile FC. It's good that Etoile is promoting itself and having listened to the plans of the club, I look forward to Etoile FC reaching it's goal of promoting French style football in the region. I do hope the future first team of Etoile FC would feature locals nurtured from the academy.

It was the most frustrating Etoile FC match I watched so far. I decided watch the match at home and the transmission by Starhub Ch122 was very bad. I decided to switch to other channels after a while. It did not help when I received the news that our Stars have fallen and defeated 1 - 0 by Gombak FC....

I decided not to go to JBS and watched the game on TV.

The Stars went to 2nd spot in the S League, highest this season after a hard fought 1 - 0 win over Balestier Khalsa at JBS on Friday night.

Mendy scored his 5th goal of the season to seal the 3 points.

The win also broke Etoile's run of 4 draws and went 4 points behind Tampines Rovers and a point above Home United.

I felt the Stars wasted many chances in front of goal in the first half and were about to disappoint the fans who turned up for the game. The attendance was reported at 1800 plus.

Mendy finally made the breakthrough with the winner at the 80th minute when he slot the ball past the outstanding Balestier keeper.

Stars are still unbeaten and I believe the team will stay that way.

I expected a one sided affair but the Stars could only manage to draw Geylang United 2 - 2 in last night's match, despite taking the lead in the second half. The team was stunned by Geylang's opening goal but equalised before half time.

Stars took the lead shortly after the half but could not hold on to it and fell to a geylang's goal minutes before the end of the match.

I'm concerned that Etoile are becoming the draw specialist of the S League. Hope the coach can work on improving the defence.

The Stars are still unbeaten with draws against Home United & Tampines Rovers. It really show the quality of the squad and with the squad adjusting to the Singapore climate, I'm sure they'll become better and be a force to reckon with.

I read news lately that there were mixed feedback on the high ticket prices of the home games. I do agree with the Chairman that the S league is undervalued. Etoile has set the standard and is something that other clubs should learn from. The first home match provided entertainment and atmosphere, similar to that I experienced when I visited clubs in London. I look forward to more great entertainment from the Stars.

I attended Etoile FC's first home game at Queenstown Stadium and the Stars impressed all who made the trip with a good show, both off and on the pitch. The fireworks display was a first in an S League match. The appearance of Jamie Yeo as emcee gave the event much more glamour. The chairman even paraded the club's first silverware around the stadium before kick off!

I went to the game for free as I've signed up as a member during the League Cup Final. I received a free T shirt, flag and a photo taken with the mascot, Urion.

The performance on the pitch was fantastic as the Stars thrashed Woodlands Wellington FC 4 - 0.

Etoile FC will face Woodlands Wellington FC next in the League Cup Final. I'm sure with the quality of the Etoile squad and with the team unbeaten so far, this is one match that Stars will not want to lose.

Looking at the performance so far, I believe the outcome will be a narrow win for Etoile again.

I predict a 2 - 1 win for Etoile FC and the Stars to lift their historic first trophy!

Congrats to the Stars for reaching the 2010 League Cup Final after beating Sengkang Punggol FC 1 - 0 at Jalan Besar Stadium. It was a very good header and goal. Lucky was with the Stars this time.

I believe the Stars can win their first trophy of the season. I will be a fantastic debut for the club!

The Stars continued with their undefeated streak by beating the Lions 1 - 0 in a friendly game. I felt it was a win win game for both sides as the Stars provided quality opposition to Team Singapore. At the same time, the Stars can use the match as good training to get the players into match condition.

Congrats to Boudjema who scored the winner.

The stars won their debut match against the other new boys, Beijing Guoan, 1 - 0 at Jalan Besar. It is a historic result!

There were good reviews of the performance of the team and it send a signal to the other S League teams to watch out for the French.

I will be looking forward to their next match against Sengkang Punggol at Jalan Besar this Wednesday. It will be their first competitive fixture against a local side. SPFC will have a tough game for sure!

First European Team in S League

It's interesting to see an European team in S League. I feel that FAS should have invited an European team in earlier. The Chinese teams were disappointing, worse still, had some corrupted players and staff, which made S League "Kelong".

I hope this team would push our local clubs to the limit. Our S League teams need a wake up call. It doesn't matter if Etoile wins the league as long as they can bring up the standard of local football.

From media reports, the teams boosts premium players from France. Pressure is on the team to perform. If not, they can be renamed as E-Toilet FC!
